I spent several days extracting saponin-rich compounds from Gleditsia and exploring methods to measure their concentration for potential applications in agricultural disinfectants. The hands-on process required patience, precision, and careful attention to experimental procedures, allowing me to develop practical laboratory skills and gain a deeper understanding of plant-based compound extraction. Beyond the laboratory, I also participated in a field experiment at a livestock farm in Phu Tho Province, where we tested the potential of the extract for disinfecting animal housing facilities. This experience allowed me to connect laboratory research with real-world agricultural needs and better understand the challenges of translating scientific findings into practical applications. It also broadened my perspective on sustainable agriculture, showing me how naturally derived compounds could offer promising alternatives to conventional disinfectants while making use of locally available resources.
